PRESS RELEASE – POSTPONEMENT OF REDUCTION TO 45%

Following the advice from the Fund that it proposed to lower the entitlement level from 50% of total contributions to 45% in the hopes of reducing member loans whilst increasing member’s savings for retirement, a lot of the feed-back received indicated that our members and the general public did not feel that sufficient time had been given to them to prepare for this change.
It has been taken into consideration that most members view their contributions as a source of income to supplement their wages, and in the short period of time given to them they have not been able to adequately prepare to address this reduction in their entitlement. In order to resolve this issue and minimise the inconvenience to its members, the Fund will not proceed to implement this change this year and instead it will be postponed until further notice. The Fund will continue to implement changes to achieve its long term objective to increase savings for members upon retirement and it hopes by giving members adequate time to put in place other means of meeting their day-today expenses, members will be better prepared when it does implement this change in the future.
