The ceremony marks the completion of rehabilitation works for the facilities by the Government of China, less than two weeks before the rugby test between Samoa and New Zealand, and 70 days from the start of the Commonwealth Youth Games hosted by Samoa.
Samoa Sports Facilities Authority CEO, Afioga Moefaauo Salale Moananu signed on behalf of the Government of Samoa while representative of the Chinese Embassy in Samoa, Mr Zhu Yue Sheng signed the documents on behalf of China.
“On behalf of the Government and people of Samoa I want to extend our sincere appreciation to the Government of China for the rehabilitation works for Apia Park Sports Complex and the Samoa Aquatic Center,” said Moefaauo.
Also in attendance on behalf of Samoa’s Government were the CEO for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Aiono Mose Sua, CEO for the Ministry of Finance, Tupaimatuna Iulai Lavea and Chief Coordinator of the Samoa Commonwealth Youth Games 2015, Vitolio Lui.
