Government has presented a dozen buses, previously used for the UN SIDS Conference, to various Schools, Non-Government Organisations, Church Groups and Government agencies.
The 12 buses were gifted to Samoa from China as part of their assistance for the UN-Small Island Developing States conference which Samoa hosted in September 2014.

Prime Minister Tuilaepa spoke at the short ceremony where he thanked the Government of China, through their representative in Samoa Her Excellency Li Yanduan, for the generous gift during Samoa’s landmark hosting efforts last year.
“Thank you for answering our call for assistance and stepping up when we needed it. These buses are going to schools, community groups and organisations that have asked for help from the Government,” said Tuilaepa.
The Prime Minister said recipients were selected after thorough consideration.
“Whatever the decision by Government this morning, it’s fair to say that you can’t make everyone happy, so while those who are receiving buses this morning are going to be very happy and support the selection process, those who did not get a bus probably won’t be as happy.”
Recipients were urged to take good care of the buses and use them to improve their activities and help develop the country.
The buses were donated to the Red Cross Society, Malua Theological College, Ekalesia Metotisi i Samoa, Samoa Primary School, Faleasiu Worship Centre, Don Bosco, Komiti Aoga Falealili, Alii ma Faipule Tiavea, Asau College, Samoa Prisons and Corrections Service, SASNOC and the National Health Services.
