The High Commissioner of Samoa to Australia, HE Hinauri Petana presented her Letters of Credence from the Head of State of Samoa to the Governor General of Australia, HE General the Honorable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) on the 24th June 2015 at Government House, Canberra.
The ceremony commenced with a military salute on arrival followed by the Presentation of Credentials and brief discussion on Samoa and Australia’s diplomatic relations. Proceedings concluded with the observation of the National Anthem of Samoa and the inspection of the Guard of Honor. Her Excellency was hosted to a luncheon by the Governor General later on in the day.
HE Hinauri Petana succeeds the late Lemalu Samau Tate Simi and becomes the first female Head of Mission for Samoa to Australia. Diplomatic relations between the two countries remain close on a bilateral basis including cooperation through the region and at the international level.
