1.  Speaker of the House attends World Conference
Cabinet has approved the trip by the Honourable Speaker of the House of Parliament, Laauli Leuatea Polataivao for the Fourth World Conference of Speakers of Parliament, being held in New York from 30 August to 2 September 2015.

The meeting will promote the importance of working together on the international level to enhance the work of Parliaments.

The conference is organised by the Inter-Parliamentary Union in close cooperation with the United Nations to coincide with the Agreement signed by both parties in 1996.

2.  Buses used for Youth Ministers Meeting
Cabinet has endorsed the use of buses brought in for last year’s SIDS meeting, for the transportation of delegates attending the meeting for Commonwealth Ministers for Youth in the Pacific, currently being hosted by Samoa on 1 – 3 September 2015.

The meeting precedes the Commonwealth Youth Games.
Other areas of conference preparations include accommodation, security, conference facility, registration, opening ceremony for conference, transportation, technical and administrative assistance, food, media and marketing.

3.  NUS staff members to attend training in New Zealand
Cabinet has approved the participation by eleven staff members of the National University of Samoa for a one week training at the Manukau Institute of Technology in Auckland, New Zealand from 31 August to 4 September 2015.

The NUS staff members are lecturers in the Faculty of Applied Science, and this training will enhance their computer skills in using the latest technology, LCD displays as well as the latest version of AutoCAD.

The participants are James Ah Fook, Ainsley R Anesone, Leia T Faiumu, Papu Fala, Ratami Fatilua, Aukusitino Leo, Antonio Mamea, Vaisualua Posese Okesene, Meki Taula, Faigame Toalepai and Vaelupemaua Uatisone.

4.  Appointment of Afioga Mata Keli Tuatagaloa as Supreme Court Judge.
Cabinet has confirmed the appointment of Afioga Mata Keli Tuatagaloa as Supreme Court Judge.

Afioga Tuatagaloa was sworn in by His Highness the Head of State Tui Atua Tupua Tamasese Efi in a ceremony held at his Tuaefu residence last week.

Afioga Tuatagaloa had been serving as a District Court judge for four years, prior to appointment to the Supreme Court.
