Fepuleai appointed as President of the Land and Titles Court
His Highness the Head of State, Afioga Tui Atua Tupua Tamasese Efi has appointed Afioga Fepuleai Letufuga Atilla Manutoipule Ropati as President of the Land and Titles Court on the advice from Cabinet.
This appointment will officially commence on the 1st of August.
Afioga Fepuleai is a lawyer by profession and has served in Government for many years, including his recent post as Clerk of the Legislative Assembly for the last three Parliamentary terms. Fepuleai had also worked as Corporate Manager for the Samoa Ports Authority, an Associate for the Petaia Law Chambers and was previously an Assistant Registrar for the Land and Titles Court.
Afioga Fepuleai holds a BA, LLB, PDLP degrees from the University of the South Pacific, the University of New England and the University of Tasmania.
Fepuleai hails from the villages of Saleaula, Safotulafai, Iva, Salelavalu and Fasitoouta. He is married and they have three children.

World Water Leaders Summit
Cabinet has approved the participation by Honourable Deputy Prime Minster and also Minister for Natural Resources and Environment, Afioga Fiame Naomi Mataafa at the World Water Leaders Summit in Singapore on 10 – 12 July 2016.
The meeting will focus on issues pertaining to the preservation and good distribution of water resources. Samoa’s participation will reaffirm its support for the importance of water resources in small island states, and this is ample opportunity for our country to further showcase its developments and plans for the preservation and good distribution of this important resource.
The meeting will also showcase Samoa’s drive to support the Integrated Water Resources Management Ridge to Reef initiative.
The ACEO of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, Susuga Malaki Iakopo is accompanying the Deputy Prime Minister to the meeting.

Financial assistance of $10,000.00 for the Samoa International Cricket Association
Cabinet has approved financial assistance of $10,000.00 for the Samoa International Cricket Association.
The fund will help the association prepare for the upcoming Women’s Cricket Tri-Nations World Cup Qualifier tournament in Apia on 13 – 23 July 2016. The winning team from this tournament will represent the Asia and Oceania region at the World Cup Tournament in 2018.
Teams from Australia, Japan and Papua New Guinea are expected to compete in this month’s tournament. The tournament will also help develop the sport in Samoa.

Reshuffle for Cabinet Ministers portfolios
Cabinet has approved a reshuffle for some Cabinet Ministers’ portfolios.
The Public Trust Office of Samoa and the Samoa Tourism Authority has been added under the portfolio for the Minister of Police, Afioga Sala Fata Pinati.
The Samoa Prison and Rehabilitation Services as well as the Robert Louis Stevenson Services have been added under the portfolio for the Minister of Revenue, Afioga Tialavea Fea Leniu Tinosio Hunt.

New Zealand Court Judge to assist with Samoa’s Drugs and Alcohol Court
New Zealand Court Judge, Justice Elizabeth Emma Margret Aitken will be in Apia to assist with the Drugs and Alcohol Court on 3 – 9 July 2016.
Justice Aitken had assisted with the establishing of the Drugs and Alcohol Court in Samoa and had worked in the Samoa Judiciary from January to December 2015.
Justice Aitken returned to New Zealand late last year but is visiting to ensure the smooth progress of the work of this Court.

Report on Pacific meeting regarding fisheries
Cabinet has approved the report on the Ministerial meeting on fisheries monitoring, control and surveillance efforts in the Pacific region that was held in Honiara in the Solomon Islands on 16 – 17 June 2016.
Issues discussed at the meeting were the Niue Treaty Subsidiary Agreement on Fisheries Surveillance and Cooperation; Observer programme; information management and the Pacific Maritime Security Programme.
Samoa was represented at the meeting by the Minister of Finance, Afioga Sili Epa Tuioti and Fisheries Senior Officer, Ueta Junior Faasili.
