By: Asenati Taugasolo Semu

The Land Transport Authority (LTA) held a double ceremony of celebration last Friday afternoon.
The ceremony was blessed by Lay Preacher Tupuola Misi Tupuola to celebrate LTA’s 10 years anniversary and to farewell 22 employees under the Road Use Management Division.
The 16 employees will be transferred to the Ministry of Police tomorrow, and six have signed the redundancy package.
Minister or Works Transport and Infrastructure, Papalii Niko Lee Hang when delivering the keynote address said although the anniversary celebration was postponed from last year due to the measles epidemic and now the COVIT 19 pandemic, but the Authority has continued the implementation and upgrade of developments.

“LTA has played a huge role in the development of Samoa through the construction of new roads, road upgrades and maintenance; drainage construction and routine maintenance; construction of new fords and bridges like Maliolio and the Vaisigano bridges,” said Papalii.
“Revenue collected from the drivers and vehicles registration contributed greatly to the funding of services and many developments.
“On behalf of the Government, I want to say thank you for the great work and for your services.
“Happy 10 years anniversary.”

Papalii also acknowledged the services of the 22 employees who were farewell and said the six that chose the redundancy package has made their choice.
“May God bless you in whatever path you take in the future.”
For the other 16 employees who will be transferred to work under the Ministry of Police and Prison tomorrow, Papalii praised their decision to remain working in another Government Ministry.
“May you continue to provide quality services and may you continue your good service to work collaboratively with employees of the Ministry of Police.
“When one door closes another will open when you work as police officers. May God bless you all and this could be another door of blessing that has opened to you.”
For the LTA employees who will continue working, Papalii’s advice was to continue the implementation of infrastructures and the upgrading and construction of new roads for the country and the people. So that Samoa continue to have safe and upgraded roads, bridges and drainages etc.
Chairman of the LTA board of directors, Taua Paul Phillips said this is a new beginning for employees who will be transferred to the Ministry of Police, and those that have signed the redundancy package, will undoubtedly continue their services either in the private sector or in other Government Ministries.

LTA’s Chief Executive Officer, Galumalemana Titi Tutuvanu Shwalger announced the cutting of the anniversary cake and also the names of the departing employees.
