(GOVT. PRESS SECRETARIAT); The National University of Samoa through its Faculty of Arts (FOA) has announced that Media and Journalism courses are now an option to study within the Foundation Certificate in Arts (FCA) programme.
The Faculty of Arts (FOA) is the founding faculty of the National University of Samoa and has as its core functions the teaching programmes and research in the different disciplines within the Arts and Humanities tradition.
This historical milestone for the faculty will enable all Foundation Students who have a desire to be a sports reporter, news presenter, newspaper, online reporter, photo journalist, camera operator or editor, to register for the Media and Journalism offered courses.
The Media and Journalism courses being offered are as follows:
- HJL001 Introduction to Media and Journalism
This course introduces to the fundamental principles of media and journalism. The course surveys significant historical and contemporary issues that have shaped the development of media and journalism.
- HJL002 Introduction to Multimedia
This course introduces the student to multimedia journalism and its significant role in contemporary global society. Students will explore a range of theoretical and key practical skills required for multimedia production.
Registration requirement states that interested students must have at least 200% aggregate total in the best three subjects, plus English in SSLC (Samoa Secondary Leaving Certificate).
