COVID-19 COMMUNITY TRANSMISSION/CASES UPDATE

The public is hereby advised that as of today, 22nd March 2022, 220 new community cases were recorded in the last 24hrs. This brings the total number of community cases detected since 17th March 2022 to 467 with 454 cases confirmed in Upolu and 13 active cases in Savaii. There are still no active cases recorded for the islands of Manono and Apolima as of time of report.  

A total of 3,313 Rapid Antigen Tests (RATs) were administered from Monday, 21 March to Tuesday, 22 March.  Of this total 2,507 were administered in Upolu and 806 in Savaii. Overall, 11,588 RATs have been conducted to date since the 17th March 2022.   According to the Ministry of Health, age groups between 15 to 19 years and 25 to 29 years of age recorded the highest percentages of positive cases.
