The Ministry of Health has released the latest seven day rolling average report on the status of the COVID 19 in Samoa. The report confirmed 2,214 community cases over the last seven days commencing from 2pm of 17th April, to 2pm 24th April, 2022. The total number of confirmed community cases is 8,280. The majority of community cases (7,536) are based in Upolu, 736 cases in Savaii, and 8 cases in Manono Tai. There are 20 patients currently in managed isolation and 4 in ICU at Moto’otua Hospital.
The public is reminded to remain vigilant and adhere to public health advice such as wearing face masks, maintaining social distance in public places, and ensure personal hygiene at all times. Those who are feeling unwell are strongly advised to stay home and isolate to keep your families and loved ones safe.
Vaccination remains our best defense against COVID-19. The national vaccination roll out continues to date. Please visit the nearest vaccination site if you have not completed your doses, or to do a booster dose.
COVID-19 related Deaths
This seven day rolling average report registered 3 new COVID-19 related deaths, taking the total number of deaths to 16. The deceased included;
- a 73 year old male with known comorbidities. He completed his two doses, but did not take a booster dose;
- a 76 year old male with a diagnosed comorbidity and was unvaccinated;
- a 70 year old male with known comorbidities who completed one dose of the COVID vaccine.
Our prayers and condolences are with the families and children of the persons who have passed away. Out of respect for the families and relatives, we will not be making any further comments.

This seven day rolling average report presents important data and trends collated and analyzed by the Ministry of Health on the status of the COVID 19 in Samoa. The report includes trends of positive cases since March 17th when the first community case was confirmed. It also provides current rates of our national vaccinations.
