Her Excellency, Mrs. Mazita Marzuki presented her Letter of Credence to the Head of State, Afioga Tuimalealiifano Vaaletoa Sualauvi II at a credential ceremony held this morning at the official residence of the Head of State, accrediting Her Excellency as the High Commissioner of Malaysia to Samoa with residence in Wellington, New Zealand.
Samoa and Malaysia established diplomatic relations in 1982, and have continued to maintain cordial relations guided by our shared values of trust and mutual respect for one another. The Head of State and the High Commissioner of Malaysia in their remarks during the Credential ceremony expressed that our two countries have persistently worked alongside each other in the bilateral, regional and multilateral platforms to achieve shared aspirations in reducing poverty and promoting shared prosperity for the betterment of their people and countries. The Head of State expressed his confidence in Mrs. Mazita Marzuki’s appointment as the High Commissioner of Malaysia to Samoa which will certainly continue to further strengthen our existing relations and generate new opportunities for the mutual benefit of our two countries.
Ms Mazita Marzuki holds a Master of Human Resources Management Development from the Golden Gate University in San Francisco, California in the United States. From1997-2000, she was the Assistant Producer/Line Manager at the TV3 Broadcasting Station. In 2001-2005, she worked at the Penang State Government Office of the State Secretary as Special Officer and then moved to the Ministry of Health from 2005-2006 as the Deputy Director of the Human Resource Division. In 2009, Ms Marzuki joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as the Principal Assistant Secretary to the OIC and Regional Cooperation Division and later also held the position of Deputy Director General of the Southeast Asia Regional Centre for Counter Terrorism. Ms Mazita Marzuki was on diplomatic posting as the Deputy Chief of Mission at the Embassy of Malaysia in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. Prior to her appointment as High Commissioner of Malaysia to New Zealand she was the Head of the Consulate General of Malaysia in Melbourne, Australia.
