Special Issue Of The Journal Of Samoan Studies 15, No. 1 On Samoan Labor Mobility.

(PRESS RELEASE 3rd March 2025) The Journal of Samoan Studies is set to launch its first volume of 2025, a Special Issue titled “Labour Mobility in Samoa: Past and Present.” This Special Issue was co-edited by Kalissa Alexeyeff (University of Melbourne), Penelope Schoeffel (National University of Samoa) and Meleise Samoa) and features 13 original and peer reviewed articles by Brian University of Samoa), Stewart Firth (Australian National University), Aumua Ming Leung Wai, Cluny and La’avasa Macpherson, Ellen Meleise and Michael Yemoh (National University of Samoa).

The Special Issue will be launched online on the JSS website (www.journalofsamoanstudies.ws) and is available for download now, with a limited print run available from CSS and the NUS Research Museum.

According to Associate Professor Kalissa Alexeyeff, co first in-depth study of the impacts of labour mobility on a single nation state, Samoa. It provides a unique, richly textured and longitudinal focus to understand the complex amalgam of gains and losses to individuals, families, communities and the national eco JSS Chief Editor Dionne Fonoti added that “The this distinguished collection of articles, curated by an illustrious cohort of coof Samoa. This is an indication of the academic excellence that we strive to publish and promote.“
