The Honourable Prime Minister met with the Chairman of World Rugby in Brussels on 23 April 2018 to discuss a number of key issues relating to the development of rugby in Samoa. Topics covered included the SRU Constitutional review, progress relating to an SRU seat on World Rugby Council and the 2018-19 performance case report and high performance investment. This is the second occasion such a high level meeting has taken place in Brussels, the first being in December 2014.
The meeting was conducted in a very frank and open manner and both sides agreed to continue the positive momentum gained to date. The World Rugby Chairman was accompanied by Mr David Carrigy. CEO Agafili Shem Leo and Ambassador Luteru assisted the PM during the meeting. A luncheon was hosted by the PM for the WR delegation after the meeting.
