1. Report on meeting regarding persons with disabilities
Cabinet has approved the report on the Second Session of the Working Group on the Asian and Pacific Decade of Persons with Disabilities 2013-2022 that was held in India on 2 -3 March 2015.
Samoa represented the Pacific region at the meeting and three important issues were on the agenda:
Sustainable Development Goal to reflect the needs of persons with disabilities;
Review of work done by Asia and Pacific for persons with disabilities in the region;
Monitor the utilisation and distribution of funds to conduct the work.
The Ministry of Women, Community and Social Development’s Assistant Chief Executive, Susuga Faafetai Koria attended the meeting.

2. Report on SAME exhibition in Sydney
Cabinet has approved the report on the Samoa Association of Manufacturers and Exporters Trade Show and the launch of Buy Samoa Made-Exhibition Centre in Sydney, Australia, which took place from 23 – 25 March 2015.
The official opening of the Trade Fair was lead in a prayer service by Father Spa Silva, followed by the keynote address delivered by Deputy Prime Minister, Fonotoe Nuafesili Lauofo on 23 March. The Buy Samoa Made-Exhibition Centre was officially opened on 25 March.
Samoa’s Consular General in Sydney, Fonoti Manogiamanu Ioane and Australia’s High Commissioner to Samoa, H.E. Sue Langford, attended the trade fair opening, which was held at the Mercure Hotel in Liverpool. Forty businesses from Samoa took part at the trade show.
Some of the locally made products on display included:
Coconut oil for cooking;
Avocado oil for cooking;
Canned palusami;
Canned Coconut cream;
Koko Samoa and chocolate;
Chips made from banana, talo and breadfruit;
Bottled water;
Beer from Vailima and Samoa Beverage Company;
Wine and liqueur;
Oil and perfumes made from coconut;
Printed Lavalava;
Black Pearl jewellery designed in Samoa;
Jandals;
Memorial plaques;
Fishing bait.
Also on display were money-transfer services by FEXCO Samoa Ltd and a local water tank manufacturer, Samoa Superior Poly Products.
There were also information booths by the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Labour (MCIL); the Scientific Research Organisation of Samoa and the Samoa Tourism Authority to further promote their services.
The CEO for MCIL, Auelua Samuelu Enari made a presentation to further promote investment in Samoa. Press conferences were held with the media, where Government representatives encouraged Australian businesses to stock and sell Samoan-made products as well as encouraging Samoans living in Australia to consider starting businesses in Samoa.
Government’s goal is to develop the economy and generate employment opportunities for our people.
The report indicates that discussions are underway between local businesses who are currently negotiating contracts with potential Australian distributors.
Samoa’s delegation was lead by Deputy Prime Minister Fonotoe Nuafesili Lauofo and included MCIL Chief Executive Officer, Auelua Samuelu Enari; the Ministry ACEO, Pulotu Lynden Chu Ling and Savali reporter, Nanai Laveitiga Tuiletufuga.

3. 2Samoa Trade Fair
Cabinet has approved the participation by Samoa Tourism Authority CEO, Susuga Papalii Sonja Hunter at the 2Samoa Trade Fair and Fashion Show being held in American Samoa from 13 – 17 April.
Previous trade fairs were held in Samoa in November 2013 and September 2014.
The show by the two Samoas could open doors for more trading partnerships in the future.

4. Upgrade for the Revenue Management System
Cabinet has approved the contract awarded to Data Torque NZ Ltd for upgrade of the Revenue Management System 7 for the Ministry of Revenue.
The work was initially undertaken by Data Torque NZ Ltd in 2013 but upgrade work is needed to install E-filing, E-payment and online account maintenance in the system.
The work was reviewed by the Tenders Board before a recommendation was submitted to Cabinet for the final decision.
