Cabinet has approved the trip by His Highness the Head of State, Tui Atua Tupua Tamasese Efi and Masiofo Filifilia Tamasese for the Kingdom of Belgium and the Kingdom of Tonga.

“All these projects are to help develop families and communities, like this new road which will make access to family lands much easier and provide an interconnecting pathway for villages in this area,” said the Prime Minister.

A traditionally made paopao (canoe) was presented by the Samoa Culture Centre for the Aiga Folau o Samoa Society this morning at Falelauniu.
The biennial FAO conference held in Italy has closed after a week-long session which had been chaired by Samoa’s Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries, Le Mamea Ropati Mualia.
Samoa and other Members have approved the agency’s biennial programme of work and budget, supporting the strategic direction charted out by Director-General Jose Graziano da Silva.
Samoa’s Honorary Consul-General in Italy, Papalii Giovanni Caffarelli, delivered an address on behalf of Samoa, where he called on the FAO leadership to address SIDS issues with a special forum within the FAO.
Samoa has been recognised with an award for satisfying the World Food Summit Goal “to eradicate hunger in all countries, with an immediate view to reducing the number of undernourished people to half their present level no later than 2015.
“Buoyed by David Grevemberg’s favourable feed-back and with 86 days to go, we are now full speed ahead, with greater confidence making the final preparations for this wonderful celebration of Samoa, youth and sport. We are delighted to welcome David Grevemberg to Apia, and to introduce him to the welcome, venues and facilities that will be enjoyed by up to 1000 athletes in barely three months’ time.” – Chief Coordinator of the Samoa Commonwealth Youth Games, Vitolio Lui.
This project aims to improve the skills of Primary School teachers and students in the subjects of Mathematics and Science. The target groups are students of year 4, 5 and 6.
“This is part of a comprehensive infrastructure project for accessible, affordable and quality health services in Samoa.
“This new state-of-the-art building will ensure excellent care for patients with neuromuscular and skeletal problems, enabling them to move and function well, reducing pain,” said the Prime Minister.
With less than 90 days to go before the Commonwealth Youth Games kick off in Samoa, the Chief Executive Officer of the Commonwealth Games Federation, Mr David Grevemberg, will be in Samoa from 9-11 June to meet with Samoa’s Organising Committee and tour the games facilities.
